Guns, Cameras, Food, and State Parks 2

Ahhh, Himalayan Cuisine. Located on El Cajon Blvd in La Mesa, it was quite a treat after a morning of gun blasting. The restaurant is quaintly decorated, and service was pretty prompt. We ordered one lunch combo with some sort of vegetable curry and chicken curry. We also ordered some sort of kofta, and a momo thing, which was similar to dumplings.

The lunch combo, I believe, came with two different currys. The vegetable one I think had coconut milk or something. It had potatoes and bell peppers, among other things. Some what fresh, and more on the sweet side. Chicken curry was my favorite, and I was sad we didn't order it in full size. The chicken was perfectly tender bathed in a wonderful blend of spices. Contrast to the veggie curry, it was definitely savory, which is just my taste.

Mmmmmm..... so delicious!!

This is the malai kofta. Rounded cylindrical lumps of non-flour dough thingies in a curry sauce. Very good as well, and very filling. It was a bit on the sweeter side as well.

Vegetable momos, which are little steamed dumpling like things. There were 8 pieces to the order and each filled with goodies. I'm used to the more East Asian style of dumplings, where the fillings are not so dense. These were also had a fresher taste than the East Asian dumplings, full of all sort of veggie and nuts. The curry dipping sauce went very well with it.

Himalayan Cuisine bares striking similarities to Indian cuisine, with emphasis on a different group of spices. It is similarly enough to cure Indian food craving yet sufficiently different to crate a craving of its own. A very satisfying meal indeed, deserving of their 4.5 stars on Yelp.
