This is Shao Mai (烧麦), pre-steaming, Mandarin style, of course. I cannot eat the Cantonese ones, the ONLY kind they sell in America, no offense. It's just not how I roll. Instead of being stuff with goops of ground meat and ground shrimp, these are stuffed with glutinous rice, Chinese sausages, sautéed ground pork, and green onions (and sometimes shitake mushrooms). MmmmmMmmm Yummy! I can only get these when I go home, and only sometimes. Although I have the recipe, I will not be attempting to make it anytime soon, due to the labor and patience involved.
And here they are all cooked. I know they don't look exactly shapely, but trust me, they are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
I'm not going to description these because I'm lazy, but they were all quick makes and very good.
Next time I go home, I should get off my lazy ass and take more pictures...
